China
Going to China
Where to begin about China? I love China. In the summer of 2008, one of my roommates heard from someone that English teachers in China could bring home $500 a week just teaching English on the street. He wanted to go, and asked if I wanted to go as well. It seemed like a really crazy idea, something that I'm usually opposed to doing. But, I kept thinking about it, and figured it would be a really good resume builder. I'd never been out of the country, and China's economy was growing, and I thought there would be job potential.
So, I started taking Chinese 101 the following semester. During the first couple weeks of class, a guy came in to talk about his company that will send people to China to teack English. This seemed like a much safer method to go China, as opposed to just randomly going. Later I would find out his name is Jacob Harlan, and his company is China Horizons. After graduating from Brigham Young University - Idaho, he and his wife went over and taught, fell in love with China, and decided to form his company.
I signed up to teach from February 2009 to June 2009, and loved it. It was an amazing opportunity. I taught at HuaiHua College in the Hunan Province. I'm trying to figure out ways to get back, preferably in a business situation, but I must increase my Chinese skills.
With this section, I'm planning to add many of my pictures to the site for all to view, and also for those that are studying Chinese, myself included, tools and ideas for study.
